Private equity activity in Ireland continued to grow over the course of 2022. Matheson’s dedicated Private Equity Group has advised on some of the most high profile PE deals this year, some of which are highlighted in the clip below.
Inflationary pressures, together with rising interest rates and as a consequence, increased borrowing costs, will require private equity sponsors to continue to be creative in terms of how they deploy capital. However, as we look forward to
2023, the fundamentals of the Irish economy remain strong with continued, albeit slower, GDP growth and very low levels of unemployment. We expect to see continued interest from international PE sponsors in Irish assets with financial services,
TMT and energy continuing to drive much of the deal activity.
Head of the Private Equity Group, Brian McCloskey commented: “Our Private Equity Group has grown again this year and we are delighted to have supported our clients on these strategically important transactions for their businesses. Our deal experience illustrates our position as the law firm of choice for internationally focused PE investors doing business in and from Ireland, and we look forward to continuing to support our clients on these transactions into 2023 and beyond”.
